Phyllis K. Clouse Scholarship

The Cheshire Democratic Women’s Club has proudly awarded the Phyllis K. Clouse Scholarship to Cheshire High School graduate Asya Tarabar. Asya is most deserving of this grant, fulfilling the qualifications of civic engagement, community service, and good academic standing. An honors student, Class President all four years, and outgoing President of the CHS Young Democrats, she will attend Yale this fall. Our members and the community wish her the very best in the next exciting phase of her education.

Each year, the Cheshire Democratic Women’s Club awards a scholarship named in memory of the club’s founder, Phyllis K. Clouse. Applicants are Cheshire residents planning to continue their educational studies post high school, whether a graduating high school senior or a non-traditional aged student pursuing an undergraduate or a graduate degree.

Recipients of the Clouse Scholarship are chosen for their commitment to Democratic values and character and for their ability to lead with those values and character into the next phase of their lives. Applications for the scholarship generally become available in February and the award is determined and announced in the spring. Those interested in applying may contact the CDWC for further information. The scholarship is funded by CDWC members and fundraising events.
