Cheshire Town Council Appoints Kathy Yacavone to the Chesprocott Health District Board of Directors

Katherine S. Yacavone, MSW, a Cheshire resident since 1994, was appointed to the Chesprocott Health District Board of Directors, in December 2025 by the Cheshire Town Council. She has forty years of professional experience in the field of community-based health care and public health. Throughout her career, Yacavone has been an ardent advocate for providing accessible, high-quality community-based health care to everyone in need of medical, mental, and mental health services. She is a health care consultant specializing in health planning, health policy, program development, grant writing, and community health centers.

Yacavone was President/CEO of the Southwest Community Health Center, Inc., in Bridgeport, CT for 20 years, retiring in 2018. She served as the Interim Chief Executive Officer for the Community Health Center Association of CT, Inc. in 2022-2023. Yacavone has served on numerous local, regional, and state-wide boards and advisory commissions, including a ten-year appointed position to the Connecticut Council on Medical Assistance Program Oversight (Medicaid). She has also been a valuable member of health planning and strategic planning advisory committees of the CT Department of Public Health and the Department of Social Services.

In 2024 the National Association of Community Health Centers awarded Yacavone their Life-Time Achievement Award for her work and advocacy for community health centers and the populations they serve. Yacavone is excited to join the Chesprocott Board of Directors and dedicate her expertise to furthering its mission.
